Fulfilling the Great Command and the Great Commission

Have you found that your church experience left you more frustrated -- just another set of cliches and boilerplate with a different twist?
We could try to convince you that View Baptist Church is different. We won't. Instead, may we invite you to "come and see."? This website sets forth what we believe and practice. If you choose to come and see, we promise to give you the time and space you need to decide for yourself if our convictions and vision align with your search for an authentic people and ministry. Come and see.
Our Vision
In the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), Jesus taught that the priority of Christian Ministry is to make disciples. Our vision is to make disciples who make disciples as a way of life (II Timothy 2:2).
Our Ministry Foundation
Upon the foundation of the Great Command (Matthew 22:37-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8), our ministry foundation involves the following:
- biblical convictions as stated in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
-the five purposes on New Testament ministry (evangelism/discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and worship).
- the service gifts of Romans 12 (prophecy, leadership, service, exhortation, mercy, teaching, and giving)
-these shared values: people over programs, simplicity over competition, congregational benefits over individual preference, and wise stewardship over duplication and waste.
Our Practices
These are our present and growing practices:
1. An ever-increasing participation in fervent, intercessory prayer.
2. Transformational Bible instruction and application.
3. A discipleship ministry that is personal, practical, and field-based.
4. An outreach ministry involves every member in some capacity.
5. A hearty fellowship that is intentionally ministry-based and edifying.
6. An effective leadership development ministry to equip new leaders.
7. Reverent/inspirational corporate worship which encourages 24/7 worship.
8. An organizational structure that enhances growth and vitality.
9. Continuous encouragement of personal spiritual growth at all levels.
10. An ever-increasing participation in mission ministry worldwide.
Our Balanced Plan for Growth
To be healthy and effective, a church must be will balanced in growth. Growth involves much more than simply adding numbers to the membership. At View Baptist Church, we are committed to growth in the following ways:
1. Numerical Growth: A thoughtful reading of the book of Acts will accent how many times numbers are referenced. It has been rightly said that numbers matter because each number is a person with an eternal destiny
2. Spiritual Growth: Spiritual growth is first an inner awareness, birthed by the Holy Spirit within the earnest disciple. An overview of spiritual growth is described in Galatians 5 in the listing of the Fruit of the Spirit. The theme of the Sermon on the Mount is spiritual growth; living out the precepts of Jesus's teaching in Matthew 5 through 7.
3. Organizational Growth: The shoe must not be allowed to determine whether the foot can grow. Proper church organization frees the body of Christ to grow.
4. Theological Growth: By theological growth, we mean growth in biblical insight and practice. The development of a marketplace "God-Consciousness: results from personal Bible Study and active participation in the church's educational ministries.
5. Ethical Growth: Ethical growth is evidenced by the marketplace practices of a person whose values are being transformed by the Word of God and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
6. Missional Growth: Balanced Church growth requires every member to be involved in sharing the gospel. Missional growth begins when a believer commits to personally reaching out to someone who has not yet come to Christ, or has lost their way on their Christian journey. Missional growth continues as support for world missions grows.
